The Union Budget 2025 takes a strategic approach to infrastructure development by emphasising Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and fostering regional growth, says Yancharla Rathnakara Nagaraja, Managing Director of Ramky Infrastructure Limited.

A key highlight of the budget is the creation of a three-year PPP project pipeline for each ministry, backed by the India Infrastructure Project Development Fund (IIPDF), which will help states seek assistance in project execution. The government’s Rs 1.5 lakh crore interest-free loan scheme for States underscores its commitment to regional development and incentivized reforms, he adds.

“Additionally, the second Asset Monetization Plan (2025-30) is set to unlock value from public assets, ensuring reinvestment into infrastructure projects. The Rs 1 lakh crore Urban Challenge Fund aims to improve urban governance, municipal services, and planning, while the modified UDAN scheme, greenfield airports in Bihar, and Patna airport expansion will boost regional connectivity,” he further said.

According to him, Projects such as the Western Koshi Canal ERM Project reflect a strong push for agricultural infrastructure. Meanwhile, granting private sector access to PM Gati Shakti portal data is a critical move to enhance project planning and execution, fostering stronger public-private collaboration.
